Live Life Healthy

One would think that living in agreement with nature would be common sense. However, in this day in age, common sense is not so common. So before personal responsibility goes the way of the human extinction, here are a few suggestions on how the gain and maintain health.

1.  Eat Whole Foods. Focus on diet of inclusion.

2.  Eat a balanced diet with optimal protein, unrefined carbohydrates and the right fats. There are health promoting and health destroying foods within each macro nutrient category; Fats, Carbohydrates and Proteins. Our body is a chemistry lab, not a bank account and the types of foods you eat cause specific hormonal responses that can harm or heal you.

3.  Stay hydrated. Water is a by-product of beta oxidation and you need it to burn fat!  If you are even slightly dehydrated you will lower your metabolism and you won't be able to perform at your peak.

4.  Make an oil change. The types of fats and oils you eat can dramatically impact your health.  Emphasize monounsaturated fats and omega 3 fats found in cold water fish, avocados, raw nuts and seeds (not peanuts) and olive oil.

5.  Eat foods rich in phyto-nutrients and antioxidants. Some of our favorites include red grapes, turmeric, sesame, tomatoes in olive oil, ginger, celery, rosemary, saffron, garlic, cherries, berries, cabbage, umbelliferous vegetables, green tea, freshly ground flax seed meal (not oil) and licorice. Live food is best.

6.  Avoid health destructive foods and toxic chemicals -
  - pro-inflammatory and rancid fats including - corn, safflower, sunflower, cottonseed oils, all margarine, trans fats and fried foods.
  - hormones and additives in meats, chicken and eggs
  - farm raised fish treated with additives, hormones and unhealthy feed ( buy wild caught fish )
  - alcohol and caffeine
  - Processed foods
  - refined and simple sugars, high glycemic load foods including fruit juice, white flour, etc.
  - Iron fortified cereals (and vitamins)
  - Soda
  - Drugs - OTC or prescribed (sulfur, mercury, thermisol etc)

7.  You cannot supplement a poor diet to make it healthy. It is virtually impossible to get all of the nutrients you need even in the most healthy and balanced diet. Use supplements to enhance a healthy diet to make it optimal.

Supplements nearly everyone needs include a pharmaceutical grade multiple (make sure it includes 800 mcg of folic acid) taken 2 x's per day, omega 3 essential fatty acids and minerals, especially magnesium.

8.  Balance your hormone responses. Think of your body like as chemistry lab; eat, work, exercise, rest and play to support appropriate hormone responses of growth hormone, cortisol, adrenaline and insulin.

9.  Avoid toxic exposure - eat organic, use environmentally friendly household products, filter your air and water.  It is estimated that 80% of all cancers are from tobacco, nutrition and environmental carcinogens.  Add houseplants to reduce the chemicals in the air.  Some of the best are Areca Palms, Lady Palms, English Ivy, Boston Ferns, Rubber Plants.  2-3 per 100 feet.

10.  Exercise, like nutrition and supplementation, is dose dependent. You must make sure you are doing the right amount of each to ensure optimal results. Too much can have a negative effect as too little. There are 3 types of exercise; adaptive (resistance training), calming (flexibility/core exercises) and stimulating (cardio). Which type, how much of it and at what intensity depends on your  metabolism type.

11.  Maintain your ideal body fat percentage and remember you must be healthy to lose body fat and increase lean muscle mass. Test your body fat percentage vs. testing your weight regularly.

12.  Take time out for fun and get adequate rest. Laughing and smiling changes your brain chemistry for the better. Mindful exercise like yoga and aerobics have been shown to enhance the immune system. Do not eat 3 hours before bedtime so the body can put its efforts into repair vs. digestion.

13.  Regular Chiropractic Care: Research demonstrates your nervous system controls all body function - your immune system, glandular system, circulatory system, digestive system, elimination system, and musculoskeletal system. Regular chiropractic care is the foundation for optimizing health and assisting the body in restoring health, maintaining and maximizing function.

Follow these simple steps to  maintain your own health and those of your loved ones.

Day After Day

So that's the way it is, day after day. Little change in the weather, little change in everything around you. Repeating the same events gets to be monotony until one feels like he could pout, but even that would soon become a rout. Is there anything to do that would change the world about for both you and me?

Yes! Things do change in due time; however it is up to you to set things in motion and start the way up or down so that you no longer wear a frown. Wake up and live. After all, major changes are up to you.

With that said, what is your problem? Has business gone flat? Is your health below par? You certainly can do better, whoever you might be.

Smile! You might even be one television one day. Be receptive to change, do something to make things come alive. because as you sow, so shall you reap ... good or bad. You are the captain of your soul. By constructive actions you will soon have things under control.

Do you believe your health is below par, that perhaps you have a headache, that you are so nervous you could scream? So.... go ahead and scream! Doing so would surely set things in motion. And you can expect to laugh or cry. Of course no one would like to see you cry, and laughing could become monotonous or even ridiculous in time. Nevertheless, it would change things. Thus, begin anew and do something different. Most importantly, what you choose is totally up to you. There is always an outcome of each decision you make.

If ill health is your problem, what are you doing about it? Are you depending upon shots, pills, and/or other drugs. How's that working out for you? Try something different. Think! What is health? Where does it come from? Remember and know that health comes from above, downward, within and outward. Therefore, change is your logical approach. If disease of any nature perplexes you, do something to get rid of the "dis" and retain the "ease." It's really that simple!

In due time, and making the correct decisions, your problems change and health returns from within outward without drugs or surgery.

The Goal of Life

What are the consequences of not living in agreement with nature? According to some, the current unusually harsh weather season is a result of global warming, which is directly related to not living in agreement with nature. Simply put, in my opinion and that of most scientists, this is simply laughable.

On a more health related slant, the focus of the medical community is on the suppression of symptoms from the outside, versus prevention of disease through improvement in health. Interesting to note that suppression of symptoms is a leading cause of death in the US. Now JAMA (Journal of the American Medical Association) has published articles regarding this same topic. More and more the US is waking up to the fact that the maintenance of health is better than the treatment of disease.

One would think that living in agreement with nature would be common sense. However, common sense is not so common. Here are a few pointers on how the gain and maintain health:

*  Eat Whole Foods. Focus on diet of inclusion

*  Eat a balanced diet with optimal protein, unrefined carbohydrates and the right fats. There are health promoting and health destroying foods within each macro-nutrient category, including fats, carbohydrates and proteins.

*  Stay hydrated. Water is an essential by-product of beta oxidation and you need it to burn fat! If you are even slightly dehydrated you will lower your metabolism and you won't be able to perform at your peak.

*  The types of fats and oils you eat can dramatically impact your health. Emphasize monounsaturated fats and omega 3 fats found in cold water fish, avocados, raw nuts and seeds (not peanuts) and virgin olive oil.

*  Eat foods rich in phytonutrients and antioxidants. Some of the favorites include red grapes, turmeric, sesame, tomatoes in olive oil, ginger, celery, rosemary, saffron, garlic, cherries, berries, cabbage, umbelliferous vegetables, green tea, freshly ground flax seed meal (not oil) and licorice.

*  Avoid health destructive foods and toxic chemicals including:

  - Iron fortified cereals (and vitamins)
  - Soda (especially diet)
  - Drugs - OTC or prescribed (sulfur, mercury, thermisol etc)
  - Vaccinations (do your own research and choose wisely)

*  You cannot supplement a poor diet to make it healthy. It is impossible to get all of the nutrients you need even in the most healthy and balanced diet. Use supplements to enhance a healthy diet to make it optimal.

*  Balance your hormone responses. Eat, work, exercise, rest and play to support appropriate hormone responses of growth hormone, cortisol, adrenaline and insulin.

Sowing Seeds of Happiness

When you want to grow something in your garden you prepare the soil and sow the sees of what you desire.

Life is like that. You get back what you give. The yield is measured by the care, the nourishment, and the cultivation you employ.

Cultivation is important. You must nurture friendship and love. You must cultivate honesty, trust and good will. You must likewise cultivate happiness.

It is said that joy is not in things, it is in us. Happiness is the product of right thinking and right action. There is no human being in the world who cannot be happy by complying with the laws that produce happiness. Happiness is a product that comes back to us from what we send out; no one ever found happiness who did not manufacture it for themselves. It is a product of and/or mental attitude toward others.

This applies to civil rights, equal justice, square dealing and all public relations. Sometimes issues have to be forced. Those in control must sometimes be dethroned and made to concede the right of others. Even so, good will and happiness can come only when love, kindness, and the Golden Rule are practiced.

Happiness is sometimes measured by the state of your health. But here again, health is not a thing apart that can be bought and sold. You can't buy health in a bottle at the drug store. You can't have health injected with a needle or grafted on by surgery. Health, like happiness, comes from within. You have to be in tune with its laws emotionally and physically. There is no other way.

Of course, you can employ drugs to numb the nerves and ease pain or to even make you sleep. However, that cannot be defined as health. Such methods set a false standard because they correct no cause of dis-ease. Such a course is like building a house on sand; it is not stable and likewise nerves until the proper foundation is laid.

To have complete health, emotions must be under control. You cannot expect true health or happiness when you are filled with hate, resentment, and jealousy. Nor will health abide in a worried, fearful mind. Be the captain of your soul and keep emotions under control.

The other most important factor is to keep your spine in adjustment so the nervous system will be unimpaired. Every function of the body depends upon its nerve supple for which the spine is the distributing center of the entire nervous system.

"I am old, I am bent, I am cheated,
      Of all that youth urged me to win;
But name me not with the defeated,
      Tomorrow again I begin."

Ambition

Ambition is that something that urges you on to accomplishment. Ambition may be worthy or it may be selfish, but in either case it stirs you to action.

Napoleon's ambition was to conquer the world. Hitler had a similar ambition. They both failed because destiny looks after her own when men's hearts are strong.

Ambition may be for wealth or fame, it may be for beauty, service, justice, freedom, or even peace and good will. Great men and women in every age group have dedicated their lives to the welfare of mankind. Artists, writers, statesmen, prophets, and teachers are good examples, with the most noted of all being Jesus. He created no wealth, he owned no property, and was put to death as an impostor. Yet, his ambition for the good of mankind has survived and continues to grow as a shining light, a star to guide the destiny of men.

Ambition need not be of an outstanding nature to be considered great and worthy. Being a good parent, teacher, or child has its just rewards. Rendering a worthy service, setting a good example, or doing a kindness are always rewarding.

What is your ambition? Is it worthy, is it good, is it uplifting, is it something to be proud of? Or, is it lower than should be expected?

Perhaps you will use the excuse that your ill health has robbed you of your ambition and that you have to lean on aspirin and drugs to keep going. Is this really the truth, or is it an ignorant excuse? Have you ever given chiropractic an honest trial?

Our ambition is to be a lighthouse for those who suffer and are in search of health. We attempt to render a genuine health service for those willing to break away from the habit of taking drugs. Health, like ambition, comes from within and is expressed outwardly through the emotions and the nervous system of the body.

We stress the importance of the spine as the key to health and growth. Do it now!

Plan For Tomorrow

Tomorrow is constantly coming, and yet it never seems to get here. What can be done about it? Is there anything you can do? Are you sometimes dismayed or concerned by the prospects? Nevertheless, one must keep planning for tomorrow. Make its coming welcome. Be ready for change constantly coming. Look forward with a feeling of delight as changes come and plan to do your very best as all things are altered. Use today as a stepping stone hopefully to better things ahead in the game of life and, win or lose, you will have the joy of keeping on keeping on, as you play the game.

Do you ever say your today is hampered by ill health? And perhaps that often your plans for tomorrow are marred by headaches, indigestion, or some other hurdle involved in the game as it is played?

This may be true. But, what are you doing to welcome change? Are you forming a drug habit? Are you leaning towards tranquilizers or pain killers? What assurance do you have that tomorrow will be better or worse than today should you fill your stomach with drugs that always produce side effects, often times worse than the original complaint? Is this an encouraging outlook?

What is health? Is it not largely the normal expression of life through the medium of the glands, organs, and other structures of the body? What is it that keeps these structures normal, as they were intended to do? Expressly, it is the nervous system and the hormonal systems of the body, as they are the reasons you feel good OR do not.

The nervous system is as vital to the activity and function of the body as is the electrical systems are to a modern home. Ground an electrical wire and service is impaired. Pinch spinal nerve bundles and symptoms of dis-ease are present in the form of pain, headaches, indigestion, and other related disorders.

What can be done about it? Is it logical to suppose that a "quick fix" medication or pain killers are the remedy? NO!

Falls, accidents and other mishaps incidental to life frequently produce shocks and strains on the spine that displace one or more vertebrae to a degree that results in nerve interference and subsequent dis-ease with its associated various symptoms. Clear the nerve channels and health comes from within outward as nature has provided.

Success is a series of failures ... put to flight.

We Still Have Pride

We have a wonderful country, a beautiful country, a prosperous country, a free, rich and happy country. Of course our country has blemishes, things of which we may be ashamed. There's our treatment of Veterans, our period of slavery, our current and past racial intolerance, needless cruel wars, inequality, crime, immortality, injustice, political and industrial corruption found at a level few have witnessed.

But, we still have pride. We are proud of the opportunities that are ours, and we are sure that no other country equals ours in so many respects. Thus, even with all the quirks, we still have pride, hope, and love with assurances that much is well despite the dark spots. We know that all will grow better as time goes on, it always does.

Of course, there are times we tend to complain, find fault, and make rash judgments. But what are we doing, you and I, to correct the trouble we find? What are we doing about pollution, high prices, inequality, and the high cost of medical care and living expenses. The corruption of the whole begins with the shortcomings found in the individual. Are you doing something about the wrongs you see?

Let us consider the health equation. Why are you ill? What are you doing to renew health in yourself and your family? Are you merely getting shots, doctoring the effects, depending on aspirin and other nsaids, tranquilizers, wonder drugs, and such? Does this sort of treatment do more than modify the effects? Must there not be a better way, something to correct the basic cause of the health problem rather than the use of pain killers? We may still have pride in great medical centers and hospitals, but are they doing much to eliminate disease rather that fight the effects? Is the search to eliminate disease rather than fight the effects? Is the search for wonder drugs the right course of action - fighting fire with fire?

One of the Psalms tells us the body is fearfully and wonderfully made. Another calls the body God's masterpiece. If we accept these conclusions, is it not logical that treating the masterpiece with drugs, shots and surgery is NOT God's way, or at least only a part.

What does all this mean? It becomes apparent that the spinal column must be in proper posture mode and adjusted or else nerves will be pinched resulting in disturbed function, lowered resistance, and symptoms common to dis-ease. You are always given a choice -- just make it the right one for you.

You deserve the pride of making the correct decision regarding your health.

A Perfect Pattern

What is essential for a perfect fit, a pleasing style, and happy results? The answer is to have an excellent pattern to go by.

In building a house, creating a new invention, or accomplishing anything in life, a good idea and a perfect plan are essential for best results.

This fact holds true in everything. It is especially true in creating your life's pattern or reaching a higher goal, or being your better self which is a worthy ambition that you should always strive to attain.

Of course perfection is seldom reached. But, it is something to shoot for and there is great satisfaction in almost reaching your objective. Anything less than your best is unworthy. You have to think high to rise, and this is very true if you expect to win the prize.

Perhaps you will say your handicap in life is ill health, that you live on aspirins and other drugs you have been prescribed by doctors.

No wonder you have health problems. Can you expect great good from a wrong course? Can there be anything near perfection in a pattern unsound in principle? Drugs merely blind you to effect and actually correct nothing. Perhaps you realize this but continue to rationalize, "What can I do? I must have relief."

Look at it this way. Your body has been called God's masterpiece because of its marvelous design. Consider the dexterity of the hands and fingers. The marvel of sight and hearing, the beauty of form. The miracle of thought and memory, the wonders of digestion which is the changing of common food into living, loving flesh, blood and bones, hair, skin and nails. Also consider the additional fact of the healing of injuries or diseases and the supplying of nourishment when and where needed. These represent perfection to the highest degree. Had you thought of that?

But, you still may continue to protest that your body is out of tune with nature's plan. What can you do about it? The pattern may be perfect, but what about the means of keeping it so? What is it that directs and controls all bodily function? This is done through the nervous system. The nervous system consists of the brain and spinal cord plus its bundles of spinal nerves that emit from openings between the vertebrae. In this masterful arrangement the spinal column encases the spinal cord. Through these openings nerve bundles emit before separating into countless tiny fibers that form a direct medium of contact between the brain cells and tissue cells.

Through this medium, all sensation is communicated to the brain where the message in interpreted and responding mental impulses direct and control all bodily activity, in a normal state of health. But sometimes due to spinal strain due to postural difficulties, or from accident related trauma, a vertebrae may be displaced to a degree so that nerves are "pinched". That disturbs function, lowers resistance, and results in dis-ease, with its various symptoms which may induce you to employ pain killers and kindred methods to reduce pain.

There is a better way! Clearly, a natural methodology would be the utilization of chiropractic to restore a more perfect pattern. This is done by hand only, to correct the cause thus opening the way toward better health and a more abundant and higher
quality of life.

Plan For A Healthy Tomorrow

Tomorrow is constantly coming but it never quite gets here. What can be done about it? Is there anything you can do? Are you sometimes dismayed by the prospects but nevertheless keep planning for tomorrow? Attempt to welcome its coming. Be very prepared for the changes that are constantly coming. Look forward with a feeling of delight as those changes come, and plan to do your very best as all things are altered. Use today as a steppingstone to hopefully better things ahead in the game of life. And win or lose, you will have the joy of keeping on keeping on as you play the game.

Have you ever said that your today is hampered by ill health? Witness that often your plans for tomorrow are marred by headaches, indigestion, or some other hurdle involved in the game as it is played?

This may be true; but what are you doing to welcome change? Are you forming a drug habit? Are you leaning overmuch on tranquilizers and/or pain killers? What assurance do you have that tomorrow will be better or worse than today when you fill your stomach with drugs that may produce side effects worse than the original complaint? Would you consider this an encouraging outlook?

What is health? It is largely the normal expression of life through the medium of the glands, organs, and other structures of the body? What is it that keeps these structures normal, functioning as they were intended to do?

Your body is formed of bones and muscles, glands and organs, blood vessels and nerves. These are all arranged in systems directed and controlled through the nervous system that stems from the brain and spinal cord through its communicating fibers.

The spinal column is the strength and support of the body. All the larger bones articulate with the vertebrae that form the spinal column. The major muscles and ligaments have their attachment tot he irregular surfaces of the vertebrae which are separated by a cushioning of cartilage that provide flexibility to the spine as well as a shock absorber for the body. Another feature mother nature has provided are openings between the vertebrae through which bundles of nerves emit from the spinal cord encased within the spinal column.

The nervous system is as vital to the activity and function of the body as technology is to the modern home. Ground an electric wire and service is impaired. Pinch spinal nerve bundles and symptoms of dis-ease (want of ease) are present in the form of pain, headaches, indigestion, and other disorders. Is it logical that in today's contemporary model, medication or pain killers are the remedy? In all too many cases the answer is an overwhelmingly, "YES!"  Why?  Because we what a "quick fix", or a "make the pain go away" syndrome.

Chiropractors have a different approach. We point out that falls, accidents, and mishaps incidental to life frequently produce shocks and strains on the spine that displace one or more vertebrae to a degree thus resulting in nerve interference and subsequently dis-ease with its various symptoms.

Should you plan for a better tomorrow, then give attention to your spine. Clear the nervous system for a better communications. Nature has provided that your health comes from within and outward.
