Ideas and Ideals

Ideas are the basis of all progress. Ideals form standards worthy of emulation. Ideas come like a flash, and make a splash in the pool of your mind. But, when an idea is not followed through, it may sink into oblivion, perhaps never to return. When ideas are employed, however, they may create wonders. Ideas are sometimes persistent and keep burning within your soul until you are forced to action that makes your dream come true.

Someone once said, "Ideals are like stars; we never reach them, but like mariners at sea, we chart our course by them."

What is your ideal in life? Is it to be helpful, to be of service to do good, to lend a helping hand, or is money, wealth or fame your ideal? Whatever your goal may be, you chart your life by it. Thus, you will either lay up treasures in heaven or you will selfishly be king of your own little world and never rise above it.

Perhaps you will say your world of usefulness is limited by the state of your health. Worry and fear of disease limit your vision and ability to think clearly which precludes helpful ideas and blurs the vision of ideals. What can you do about it?

You must begin to realize that health, as with like ideas and subsequent ideals, come from within. Of course, there is a difference in expression, but the source is much the same. Ideals are governed largely by your emotions. Health comes principally through the nervous system that stems from the brain and spinal cord. This being true, the spine becomes the distributing center of the nervous system, and subsequently involving the hormonal system.

Day After Day

So that's the way it is, day after day. Little change in the weather, little change in everything around you. Repeating the same events gets to be monotony until one feels like he could pout, but even that would soon become a rout. Is there anything to do that would change the world about for both you and me?

Yes! Things do change in due time; however it is up to you to set things in motion and start the way up or down so that you no longer wear a frown. Wake up and live. After all, major changes are up to you.

With that said, what is your problem? Has business gone flat? Is your health below par? You certainly can do better, whoever you might be.

Smile! You might even be one television one day. Be receptive to change, do something to make things come alive. because as you sow, so shall you reap ... good or bad. You are the captain of your soul. By constructive actions you will soon have things under control.

Do you believe your health is below par, that perhaps you have a headache, that you are so nervous you could scream? So.... go ahead and scream! Doing so would surely set things in motion. And you can expect to laugh or cry. Of course no one would like to see you cry, and laughing could become monotonous or even ridiculous in time. Nevertheless, it would change things. Thus, begin anew and do something different. Most importantly, what you choose is totally up to you. There is always an outcome of each decision you make.

If ill health is your problem, what are you doing about it? Are you depending upon shots, pills, and/or other drugs. How's that working out for you? Try something different. Think! What is health? Where does it come from? Remember and know that health comes from above, downward, within and outward. Therefore, change is your logical approach. If disease of any nature perplexes you, do something to get rid of the "dis" and retain the "ease." It's really that simple!

In due time, and making the correct decisions, your problems change and health returns from within outward without drugs or surgery.

Look For The Good

No matter how dark the day, or how uncertain the future, there is always good to be found somewhere. Observe and look for the good. Be optimistic and use whatever good you find as a steppingstone to something better.

Regardless of how surly an individual may appear to be, that person has their good qualities. Praise them. Let them know you admire within them that which is good, and they may be encouraged to respond in kind.

The same diplomacy applies to nations. People are not all bad, in fact most people are good, even as we think we are. Circumstances, education and environment make the significant difference.

As a result of fear propaganda, nations may be moved to the brink of war, as we are now witnessing. There may appear to be no outlet short of conflict,,but when we appeal to the good in man, the whole atmosphere may change. No peace can come until this factor is employed. Why not use it first, before war and its destruction have taken their toll. Sadly, there is evil in this world that no diplomacy can cure. This we bear witness to daily, and we as individuals suffer the emotional and physical trauma.

When your neighbor, or someone within your organization, or even a member of your own family, is out of sorts and cross, look for the good in them. Perhaps they are ill, or there is illness within their family or group. Attempt to be of help. Be a good Samaritan ... it works!

When you are sick, are you not also inclined to be crass, short spoken and a bit irritable? There is always good within you. Don't let your feelings get you down. Find something to remove that frown and you will feel better. Most people, including myself, will exercise those "demons" away. Exercise is great medicine. Drugs are a shortcut to failure within the mind and body. Junk food is another culprit which the mind craves when you're down and out of sorts.

What is disease? Is dis-ease not want of ease? What is ease? Is it not a condition wherein function is normal? What does abnormal mean? Does it not imply that glands, organs and muscle are not functioning as they should? What regulates function? We must seek the basic cause, the source, the good, and the normal.

Emotions play an important role in life and function. As you think, so you are, to some extent. Thinking brings out the good or the evil. However, actual bodily function is regulated and controlled through the nervous system. Locating and correcting the spinal cause of disease is important, so that health returns naturally, and will bring about a more abundant life.

Today - Begin Where You Are

Do you wish to succeed in life? Try beginning where you now are. Utilize the tools you have at hand. Expect the best and then follow through and DO your best. That is all it takes.

Of course you must have a goal, whether it be immediate, intermediate or long term. You must know what you want. You must have an ideal, you must have vision. The Bible says, "Where there is no vision the people perish." Those with no vision wander about in a desert of non-belief, fear, and doubt until despair enters their mind. This is true of the individual or the mass. There seems no way out, and you can't win unless you believe you can be changed.

What is your problem? could it be ill health? Do you suffer pain? Are you nervous? Are you groggy from taking too much medicine, too many drugs, tranquilizers, aspirin, and/or perhaps even alcohol? Begin now to get rid of these false idols. There is a better way, a right way, and most importantly - the proper way. You will never find answers in a bottle or drug. You may ask what you can do. What other way is open to you?

Your body is fearfully and wonderfully made, as has often been said. This being true, what have you to fear? Why doubt the laws of nature? Begin now, where you are, to set nature's laws to work for you and you will find the way to approach a more abundant life. What does this mean, you may ask?

Chiropractors have a different approach to health problems. No drugs, no surgery, nothing to swallow, and no shots. It's not that we do not "believe" that modern medicine is injurious, but it would be a last resort unless a true emergency should present. Have you wondered how this works?

I point out that health comes from "up down inside and outward" and in no other way. Health depends entirely upon the nervous system that stems from the brain and spinal cord with its network of nerve fibers forming a direct medium of contact between brain cells and tissue cells.

You may have heard it said that the spine is the strength and support of the body. This is true, but the use of the spine has many ramifications. The spinal column supports the head housing the brain. It also serves for the articulation of all the larger bones and the attachments of major muscles and ligaments. Through this medium you are enabled to have strength, activity, and function; however, more is needed. this is supplied through the brain, spinal cord, and its nerve fibers already mentioned.

The spinal cord is a great cable of nerves that descends from the base of the skull down through the greater length of the spinal column. the spinal column is provided with openings between the vertebrae where nerve bundles emit separating into countless nerve fibers that form a direct contact between the brain cells and all structures of the body. Through this medium all activity and function take place enabling the body to perform a more perfect state of health.

Sometimes however, there is dis-ease (want of ease) with its various symptoms and you may become ill. You have pains, indigestion, nervousness, and various other disorders. As a result you take something for it, or you go to a doctor for a prescription to be filled at a pharmacy. These sometimes work, but more often cause side effects worse than the original complaint. "A drug is not a drug unless it causes side effects." Eli Lilly.

What has caused these problems? We point out that in everyday life you are subject to falls, accidents, and mishaps that sometimes displace one or more vertebrae to a degree so nerves are pinched. This in conjunction with malfunction and the emotions results in various health problems.

X-rays of the spine and other tests can determine the spinal cause of the problem. Then gentle spinal adjustments are given, and in due time health can be restored again. Are you in doubt?

Begin now, where you are. Go to your chiropractor and perhaps you too can discard your medicines. The way will be opened to a more abundant life.

A Perfect Pattern

What is essential for a perfect fit, a pleasing style, and happy results? The answer is to have an excellent pattern to go by.

In building a house, creating a new invention, or accomplishing anything in life, a good idea and a perfect plan are essential for best results.

This fact holds true in everything. It is especially true in creating your life's pattern or reaching a higher goal, or being your better self which is a worthy ambition that you should always strive to attain.

Of course perfection is seldom reached. But, it is something to shoot for and there is great satisfaction in almost reaching your objective. Anything less than your best is unworthy. You have to think high to rise, and this is very true if you expect to win the prize.

Perhaps you will say your handicap in life is ill health, that you live on aspirins and other drugs you have been prescribed by doctors.

No wonder you have health problems. Can you expect great good from a wrong course? Can there be anything near perfection in a pattern unsound in principle? Drugs merely blind you to effect and actually correct nothing. Perhaps you realize this but continue to rationalize, "What can I do? I must have relief."

Look at it this way. Your body has been called God's masterpiece because of its marvelous design. Consider the dexterity of the hands and fingers. The marvel of sight and hearing, the beauty of form. The miracle of thought and memory, the wonders of digestion which is the changing of common food into living, loving flesh, blood and bones, hair, skin and nails. Also consider the additional fact of the healing of injuries or diseases and the supplying of nourishment when and where needed. These represent perfection to the highest degree. Had you thought of that?

But, you still may continue to protest that your body is out of tune with nature's plan. What can you do about it? The pattern may be perfect, but what about the means of keeping it so? What is it that directs and controls all bodily function? This is done through the nervous system. The nervous system consists of the brain and spinal cord plus its bundles of spinal nerves that emit from openings between the vertebrae. In this masterful arrangement the spinal column encases the spinal cord. Through these openings nerve bundles emit before separating into countless tiny fibers that form a direct medium of contact between the brain cells and tissue cells.

Through this medium, all sensation is communicated to the brain where the message in interpreted and responding mental impulses direct and control all bodily activity, in a normal state of health. But sometimes due to spinal strain due to postural difficulties, or from accident related trauma, a vertebrae may be displaced to a degree so that nerves are "pinched". That disturbs function, lowers resistance, and results in dis-ease, with its various symptoms which may induce you to employ pain killers and kindred methods to reduce pain.

There is a better way! Clearly, a natural methodology would be the utilization of chiropractic to restore a more perfect pattern. This is done by hand only, to correct the cause thus opening the way toward better health and a more abundant and higher
quality of life.

Belly Fat And Your Health

We are witnessing the ever threatening fear of ill health, especially osteoporosis, dementia, Alzheimer's disease, diabetes, colorectal cancer, metabolic syndrome, high blood pressure, and other health problems. This article is simple and direct enough to hopefully motivate some to consider immediate changes in their lifestyle. The alternative is serious health issues and all too often .... death.

Excess accumulation of belly fat is more dangerous than excess fat around your hips and thighs. Belly fat is associated with serious health problems, such as heart disease, stroke, and type 2 diabetes. Your genes can contribute to your being overweight and help determine where you carry this extra fat, but poor lifestyle choices are likely to worsen the issue.

Eating high-fat foods is not helpful, but excess calories of any kind can increase your waistline and contribute to belly fat. Still, there is no single cause of belly fat. Genetics, diet, age, and lifestyle can all play a role. Changing dietary habits can help you fight the battle of the bulge and fight belly fat: Read labels, reduce saturated fats, increase the amount of fruits and veggies you eat, and control and reduce your portions.

Excess calories -- whether from alcohol, sweetened beverages, or over-sized portions of food -- can increase belly fat. Our bodies need calories, yet gram for gram, alcohol has almost as many calories as fat.

Alcohol does seem to have a particular association with an increased waistline, though. In general, that’s because when you drink alcohol, your liver is too busy burning off alcohol to burn off fat, leaving you with a beer belly. Studies show that alcohol can cause you to feel hungry by affecting hormones that regulate a sense of satiety.

Researchers at Wake Forest University found that trans fats, which are created by partially hydrogenated oil, increase the amount of fat around the belly and redistribute fat tissue to the abdomen from other parts of the body. Trans fats may be found in such foods as margarine, pastries, cookies and crackers, and fried and convenience foods.

Green tea, in combination with exercise, could help you lose weight, according to the Journal of Nutrition. Researchers think substances in green tea known as catechins stimulate the body to burn calories and enhance loss of belly fat. Blueberries also show promise, albeit in rodents. In one study, rats bred to become obese were fed either a high-fat diet or a low-fat diet rich in blueberries. Rats fed a blueberry-rich diet had less abdominal fat.

Many fast food options are typically high-fat, calorie-dense foods that are eaten in large portions -- all of which contribute to over-consumption of calories, weight gain, and an increase in belly fat when eaten frequently. Many fast food restaurants don’t provide nutritional information, but studies have shown that when this is available, people tend to pick lower-calorie meals.

According to the American Heart Association, “soft drinks and other sugar-sweetened beverages are the No. 1 source of added sugars in the American diet.” Added sugars mean added calories – something you want to avoid to help with weight loss and cut down on belly fat. Yet, high-fructose corn syrup has gradually replaced refined sugar as the main sweetener in soft drinks and has been blamed as a potential contributor to the obesity epidemic.

Does switching to diet sodas help? Although some research has suggested that people who drink artificially sweetened sodas as part of a calorie-restricted diet do lose weight, other studies have suggested that diet soft drinks could even lead to weight gain. For now, there’s no conclusive evidence either way.

To trim your waistline, add whole grains to your diet. For example, choose brown or wild rice instead of white rice. Refined and other highly processed foods can contribute to weight gain and interfere with weight loss. A study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition showed that a calorie-controlled diet rich in whole grains can trim extra fat from the waistline of obese subjects.

Couscous, spaghetti, and corn flakes are made from refined grains (though whole grain options may be available). But popcorn is a whole grain food that can boost fiber. The best way to prepare popcorn is with an air-popper, which requires no oil for cooking. Read labels to see what oils have been added to microwave popcorn.

All else being equal, though, whole grains are better than refined grains because they tend to be high in fiber and take longer to digest. This satisfies your hunger better and helps lower blood glucose levels and reduce fat.

Overall, men tend to store fat in the abdominal area more than women do, thanks to sex hormone differences. Before age 40, women tend to store most of their fat in the hips, thighs, and buttocks. After 40, as estrogen levels drop, body fat is redistributed to the abdomen.

When you lose weight, you’re much more likely to lose it in your midsection. Losing weight on a well-balanced plan will melt body fat, including belly fat. The best way to decrease your waist size is through healthy eating and regular exercise.

Doing sit-ups, crunches, or other abdominal exercises will strengthen your core muscles and help you lose fat, but they don’t specifically work on belly fat. In other words, spot exercise won’t decrease belly fat. The only way to lose belly fat (or any kind of fat) is through dieting and exercise. Aerobic exercises, such as running, swimming, cycling, and tennis, are some of the best to help reduce body fat.

Belly fat appears to be especially bad for the heart. Studies have linked belly fat to heart failure, atherosclerosis, and other cardiovascular problems. It also has been associated with osteoporosis, dementia, Alzheimer's disease, diabetes, colorectal cancer, metabolic syndrome, high blood pressure, and other health problems.

Most scientific evidence suggests that a calorie-controlled diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, low-fat dairy, beans, nuts, seeds, lean meat, fish, eggs, and poultry is the foundation for a diet that provides all the nutrients you need while helping to whittle your waistline. Weight loss experts recommend combining this diet with 30 to 60 minutes of exercise most days of the week.

The above informational article is important .... read it more than once.
